Steel Magnolias playing at Estonian Lane

Celebrating its tenth season, Theatre in the Woods in Riverwoods will perform Robert Harling's "Steel Magnolias" July 18-20 and 25-27. Since the play's initial performances in the 1980's, the laugh-filled story of the lives and friendships of six Southern women has been an audience favorite. Wherever they live, people identify with these warm, lively friends in the small beauty shop in a little Louisiana town.

The play, directed by Brent A. Stringfield, centers around six very different women who meet weekly in the beauty shop of Truvy Jones (Elizabeth Tannehill of Round Lake) and her young assistant Annelle (Therin Miller of Evanston). Clients include the mother-daughter team, in real life as well, M'Lynn (Holly Schaefer of Deerfield) and Shelby (Aimee Schaefer of Deerfield), the refined businesswoman Clairee (Mary Rawson of Northbrook) and the wise-cracking Ouiser (Nancy Pollack of Chicago).

Come join these charming Southern women as they invite you to share their lives for an evening. Performances are held at Estonian House, 14700 Estonian Lane, Riverwoods (1/4 mile north of Deerfield Rd., off Milwaukee Avenue) at 8:00 on July 18, 19, 25, and 26 and 3:00 on July 20 and 27. Admission is $17 for adults and $15 for seniors and students.
